General
We are a four partner GMS Practice in the suburban area of Sale. We have two full time male partners and two three quarter time female partners. The Practice has been training Registrars since 1989 and two of our Registrars have gone on to be Partners. We are fully computerised using "Vision" software. All hospital letters are scanned into the patient's clinical record and we are thus "paperlite".
Practice population / area
The Practice looks after 6,600 patients across the area of Ashton-on- Mersey and Sale west of Washway road. There is an exceptional variety of accommodation in this compact area resulting in a wide mix of patients from the significantly deprived to the extremely affluent.
Premises
We work from a single storey purpose designed health centre that was constructed in the early 1970's which we share with a wide range of community services. (District Nurses, Health Visitors, Midwifes, Palliative care Nurses, Dieticians and podiatrists.)
Services
We offer a full range of services for the new GMS contract, apart from Out of Hours cover which we opted out of in Dec 2004. We achieved a maximum 1050 points in the quality and outcomes framework for the year 2005/06.
Special interests
The Practice has a special interest in medical informatics and computerisation plays an integral role in delivery of health care to our patients. Dr Simpson has a diploma in Sports Medicine and runs the diabetic service along with practice nurse Bernie Quinlan. Dr Stephanie Yarnell and Dr Debbie Pole run the Child health Surveillance clinics and our practice nurses Bernie Quinlan and Debbie Holmes run the asthma and CHD clinics.
Partners outside interests
Dr Simpson enjoys watching Rugby, playing golf and cooking.
Dr Welsh enjoys sport, hill walking and birdwatching.
Dr Yarnell's passion is horse riding but she also enjoys swimming.
Dr Pole is kept busy with her two baby girls but enjoys music and gardening
