Where are we?
Boundary House
Medical Centre is located between Sale and Northenden in suburban South
Manchester. It is situated in an area of mixed socio-economic housing,
including a large council estate. The Practice has a list of
9,000 patients, equally divided between Trafford and Manchester, and
works from excellent, modernised premises with good facilities for GP
training. Please come and see for yourself, we welcome visits
from potential registrars, by arrangement with our Practice Manager.
Who are we?
Dr. Jonathan Berry is the managing partner, and leads on diabetes.
Dr. Paul Gray chairs our weekly business meetings, leads on ischaemic heart disease and offers acupuncture.
Dr. Fran Moley is
lead partner for child health surveillance and also has an interest in
mental health, serving on the local strategic planning group.
Dr. Jan Webb is
lead partner in epilepsy and cancer care. She is closely involved in GP
training, as course organiser for GP registrars in Bolton and Wigan.
Dr. Diana Hutchinson is
the trainer. She was for years an examiner for the MRCGP and then
became an assessor for the clinical skills component of the new MRCGP
exam.
Dr. Paul Jackson was a registrar at Boundary House and
subsequently returned to the practice. We anticipate that he will
increasingly take part in GP training.
The rest of the team comprises Practice and District Nurses, Health Visitors, Psychologist, Counsellor, Community Alcohol and Substance Misuse Team, Community Midwives and Ancillary Staff.
What you can expect
As our
registrar, you will be an important part of the practice team and will
have the opportunity to explore all aspects of primary care in a busy
and stimulating environment. You will have your own spacious,
air-conditioned consulting room. You will be expected to attend the
local day release course for GP trainees. There are normally two hours
of protected teaching time each week, with various members of the team
contributing according to their special interests.
Registrars have a two week induction period when you will shadow members of the team and learn to use our computerised medical records. Subsequently, the trainer will guide you through a detailed curriculum, which is modified according to your learning needs. As well as clinical topics, the curriculum generally includes analysis of your consultation skills using video, medical ethics in primary care, critical reading techniques and participation in business management.
Your out-of-hours experience must meet the regional criteria and will be arranged with Mastercall, our local out-of-hours provider.
We are an equal opportunities employer.
