Why come to the Salford and Trafford Area to train to be a GP?

At first sight the area may not seem very appealing but you would be surprised at what it has to offer.

 
Lowrey A brand new arts complex - the Lowry Centre - and the superb quayside developments around the old docks are easily reached not only by car but also on the new Metrolink connection.

It is also the home of the world famous Old Trafford football and cricket grounds and the shopping paradise of the Trafford Centre.

There are excellent motorway connections and the area is within easy reach of the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, Peak District National Park and the North Wales coast.
  


Scheme Details
The scheme is based primarily at two hospitals – Salford Royal (formerly Hope) Hospital and Trafford General Hospital.  A half day term-time day release course operates throughout all three years.

The Training Year in General Practice

The year in General Practice will be based in a local training practice. During this year you will have weekly tutorials with your trainer and a half day release course running for three ten week terms. These sessions are aimed at the specific needs of the trainees on the course – in other words you will help to set the agenda!
